Summary

A guide to the urinary changes that deserve attention and what they may mean.

Urinary symptoms become more common as men age, but they are not something to simply accept. Knowing which signs matter helps you seek care at the right time.

Frequent Urination

Needing to urinate often during the day, or more than once or twice at night, can signal an enlarged prostate, a bladder issue, or infection. If it disrupts your routine, it is worth a conversation with your doctor.

Weak or Interrupted Stream

A flow that stops and starts or feels weaker than before may mean the prostate is pressing on the urethra. This is a common sign of BPH.

Urgency and Leaking

A sudden, strong urge to urinate that is hard to control can affect confidence and daily life. Treatments are available, so do not suffer in silence.

Blood in Urine or Semen

Any visible blood should be evaluated promptly. While it may have a simple cause, it can also signal something that needs treatment.
